Here's some more pics from the DFW Train-ing ride. This was an absolute blast (despite my aching legs) and hopefully we will do it again. Many thanks to all who helped organize the ride!

The Dallas riders met at a parking lot near White Rock Lake and then rode down to the train station. In hindsight, I could have rode to the lot since it is maybe 15 miles from my home, but then my legs really would have fallen off!

We went around the lake first, then through downtown Dallas. Light weekend traffic and no problems. There was a little rain starting out, but it cleared up quickly.

We got to the train station with plenty of time to buy tickets and load up. The conductors were great and found us a place to stow the bikes. It was a relaxing hour before we made it to our stop in Fort Worth.

Here's Innergel on the train, looking intense and taking pics. That's JeffN next to him

When we arrived in Fort Worth there was a lot of meeting and greeting and bike appreciation.

Then we were off and rolling through downtown cowtown. The route was very nice indeed, and the drivers were a little more relaxed than the ones in Dallas. I noticed a few share the road signs as well.

There were a few mechanicals this trip, the first of which was Innergel's handlebars dropping down. A quick turn of the wrench fixed that. There was also a fixed gear dropping a chain later on in the ride which took a few minutes to sort out, and my 105 shifter managing to somehow unscrew the the little vanity cap and tossing it in to the weeds.

The route took us around DFW airport which is a surprisingly nice ride. There's a road that makes a loop around it that is more used for service and deliveries than commercial passengers (who take the main artery highways directly to the roads leading to the terminals).

Then later we encountered another type of train that stopped our progress instead of moving us along.

One of the few times I was near the front of the pack I managed to get a decent group shot. The peloton could best be described as "miscellaneous" - fixtes, freewheels, gears, off the shelf, custom made, custom painted, custom parts, and a mish mash of jerseys. But we all had one thing in common: a love of bikes and riding. That, and we were all a bunch of white guys in lycra. Maybe some other DFW riders want to come out next time and mix it up a bit?

The obligatory group photo. The mustangs statues are in Las Colinas. Apparently they are a tourist destination in themselves, but they also make for a nice rest stop just before lunch.

That's all I got. Be sure to check out the other report: http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?p=1054367

And don't let the fixed gears fool you - they can tear up the pavement!

BTW I love the clarity (does that make sense?) of your images.

Good job on the pics Jon. It's funny how I feel thinner than I look :)

A+ jon. Your pics are true greatness!

It's nice to see all the different perspectives from the ride. You have a great eye for composition. I esp. like the group shot with the Share The Road sign in the background. I saved every single one of your pics. I think these are the first pics I have ever seen of myself on a bicycle. And I've been riding for 5.5 years.

Dave, you and I should have switched bikes for a little while. That would have been pure comedy gold! :biggrin5:

Thanks for all the comments on the photos. My technique is sheer volume of photos, a little luck, and digital post processing. :-D I try to put some thought in to each shot (which is what I think might be what MB1 means by "clarity"), but I also snap so many that statistically a few have to turn out well!

These pictures are a first. This is the first time I have ever wished I was in Texas. Nice photos, and it looks like it was a great ride.
