The Adventure Cycling Assoc. had a member gathering in Minnesota last night. It was less than a mile from my house at Quality Bicycle Products (QBP). So, after the commute home I swapped out of the bike togs, threw on some sandles, slapped the flat adaptors on the clipless and leasurely cut through the park to attend the Gather.

Like a salmon returning to the spawning ground I parked my Surly on the rack in front of QBP. Surly is one of QBP brands, so it was fun to bring it back home. The Gather started out with a tour of the QBP facility by the President of QBP, Steve Flagg. He talked about their efforts that have made QBP one the most effective distribution centers in any industry, the products and services they offer bike shops, the investments they've made in their facility to have as small an environmental impact as possible.

After the tour of QBP. Jim Sayer, the Executive Director of the Adventure Cycling Assoc (ACA) had a conversational talk with us members about where ACA is today, where they are going in the future, and welcomed comments and feedback about both topics. It was a nice session and reaffirmed that ACA is a good organization to keep sending money every now and again. If you're not a member I'd recommend you join.

I few other ACAer's came out and oggled my new Long Haul Trucker, a proud moment for me. As I was getting ready to roll Steve Flagg walked by and said "hey Scot, hang on, I'll ride out with you", so I got pleasant pedal back through the park with Steve. Gave me a chance to brag on the bike Steve built me and thank him for everything he does for the bike community.

A fine evening with the ACA.
