Just check in and let us know if you were blown to Kansas last night. We had a few gusts last night that I thought were going to blow the roof off. The backyard is covered with small tree limbs. What a blow.

Woolbury 06-07-2007, 06:32 AM I was working downtown and had to hang on to keep from blowing away. Dirt swirling, flowers being blown out of the truck, my shirt nearly blown off my body. My buddies were meeting at Deer Cr at 530 and I thought they were absolutely crazy to deal with these gusts, but I headed over anyway. Turned out to be a beautiful ride, not too bad in the canyons, with a downhill tailwind pushing us to scary speeds on the descent. Never know unless you go. Pablo 06-07-2007, 07:11 AM Out in Greeley, it was very, very windy as well. The winds were from the northwest. Being the rational guy that I am, I rode into the gusts for two hours and soft pedalled in my hardest gear back home in 30 minutes. nepbug 06-07-2007, 08:23 AM I was working downtown and had to hang on to keep from blowing away. Yep the City View Loop was pretty good last night, but at one point there was a crosswind that was a little scary. Coming out of Deer Creek and going north on the C-470 trail, that's when the wind got bad, pretty relentless until about Bowles. paul2432 06-07-2007, 04:28 PM Yep the City View Loop was pretty good last night, but at one point there was a crosswind that was a little scary. Coming out of Deer Creek and going north on the C-470 trail, that's when the wind got bad, pretty relentless until about Bowles. All is good here. I rode to work yesterday (wednesday), rode at lunch, and rode home. Ride in was no problem. Lunch ride was pretty windy. We rode over Old Stage from the North, and when we reached the down hill the head wind was so strong at first you would have thought we were still going uphill. Ride home (along Diaganol highway from Boulder to Longmont) was super fast until I turned North on Airport Road. Paul wannabeSWIFTer 06-07-2007, 05:19 PM Ah, but the commute from Boulder to Westminster was oh so quick this morning. shongalola 06-07-2007, 07:25 PM up to Breckenridge for a work shindig - near white out conditions west side of the tunnel and blowing snow in Breck. crazy. MShaw 06-11-2007, 08:08 PM Hey, new to the area here... WhereTF is there to get hooked up with group rides? I'm looking to get fit for cross season and need the 'incentive.' Living down in Lakewood if anyone's got any hints. Thanks, M shongalola 06-12-2007, 05:14 AM There are usually groups that head out from downtown Golden 10am (Starbucks or Coors Wellness center) sunday morning though am not sure if that is still happening during racing season. Pseudo Mead is a training race up on the south mesa on most tuesday nights. Its a fun, fast course and folks tend to take it a little easier in the corners. Depending on your cat, its either 6pm (4's) or 7pm (1,2,3's) though the 7pm racers are allowed to warm up with us 4's so that would give you almost a 2 hr group ride. www.americancycling.org Otherwise, for incentive, hit the base of Lookout around 6pm and start riding - there are always folks who will try race you up. hope that helps |
