although naturally garnering much less attention since he's not been in the Giro or Tour picture is Sevilla. He seemed to be pretty much nailed yet has been riding and getting good results in Spain all season.

Ironically enough Spain seems to be pretty much a haven for the dopers, their cycling federation is even working on their behalf to get an amnesty. I guess so many big names were involved that it would have ruined Spanish cycling if they had gone after them.

I don't get this either.... He's implicated and still racing? I "think" he's raced outside of Spain too DB.

Puzzling.

Spanish cycling is a complete joke. I'm sorry, but it's an absolute travesty.

Didn't Zubeldia finish pretty high up in the Tour again last year for the first time since he finished 4th(?) several years ago and then I agree, pretty much, dropped out of the picture?

I went and checked, he ended up 8th last year.

Euskatel riders in general seem to have suffered a drop in performance since they had a couple of doping positives and fired their team doctors a few years ago. The best thing Mayo probably did for his career was get out of there and go to Saunier-Duval, that team has no problem getting results from lots of different riders.

The rapid demise in all that is/was Euskaltel coincides exactly with introduction of the test for blood transfusions. Also, If you remember, Lance sent the memo to the ASO/UCI warning that they were using blood transfusions. Within a matter of a couple months, Mayo was dropping off the back of 3rd category cols. At this point, Floyd would introject that all riders are innocent until proven liers,.......but facts are facts.

I always thought the timing of Euskaltel's collapse told the tale, but it's sad that it also shows that was the beginning of the unlevel playing field again. Obviously some guys could still afford the A list doping Doctors and practices but the smaller budget teams couldn't.

Kind of makes me wonder if the big name Docs don't drop hints to the testers about what others are doing to get rid of the less sophisticated operators and allow them to jack their fees up.

I already put some cash on Klöden (no ****ing way he is gonna get caught before TdF) and I am wondering if Mayo will come soaring back up again in this years TdF. However, Gilberto Simoni got blasted by a Basso in last years Giro. Perhaps Saunier hasn't got the proper contacts up their sleeves?

I remember I thought Mayo would win the TdF, and that year he came down with infectious mononucleosis. Do you guys think a properly juiced-up Mayo could rip the legs off Valverde, Klöden, Vino, Evans and the other contenders?

No, Mayo can't time trial well enough to stay close to the other guys you've mentioned.

How sneaky was that of Armstrong - mayo's getting a little too close to comfort so get my buddies at the UCI to put the heat on - and, as we know from Manzano, US Postal had a handy mole to warn them of any potentaially awkward tests.

Ever wonder why Armstrong and his mates left France as soon as the French federation toughened up their anti doping laws and went to Spain?

Kloden could still get snared in the Telecom stuff, but it's not as likely as Valverde getting the boot. There's also the Mazzoleni investigation in Italy that could lead to Astana.

Of course the question that never seems to get asked is just who do people think Saiz was buying all that stuff for? $60K is a lot more than a couple riders worth and I seriously doubt he was buying it for somebody else's team.

He was buying it for Raymundas Rumsas' grandmother.

She fancies a return to the podium.
