I ordered 2 continental competition TUBULAR tires last week. Open the package today and they sent me GP 4000 CLINCHERS. I needed these about 3 days ago. Just emailed them, waiting for their response.
This was a bad time to screw up!

I ordered 4 cages 2 balck and 2 silver and thy sent all silver - when I emailed them they said look at the invoice it says 4 silver! The invoice was made by them so.... anyways the prices are so good and the silver worked so I left it alone but I was kinda put off. I have ordered a lot of tires though without problems.

Yeah, but my invoice says 2 (chili) 700 x 22 Continental competition tubular tyre

the best part is, I just checked and of course they're now sold out. Pissed doesnt even begin to decribe it-- cant wait to see how long it takes for them to get back to me.

I also have no intentions of returning the tires w/out being refunded my shipping costs. I didnt order the wrong thing.

A vittoria tube I ordered came with a hole already in it...

Emailed them and they shipped 2 to me for free. Don't know about bigger ticket items like what you guys ordered.

Have you figured out what it costs to ship it back to them? What would the time be like for them to get it if you shipped it?

I once ordered an item from them and didn't want to pay shipment to send t back, so I sold it on ebay and sold the jersey for 15$ more than I paid for it. THen I just re-ordered the item. in the right size

worked out pretty good.

I have to wait until tomorrow to see what they say--

the issues now are:

they are out of stock (according to the website)
I ordered these a week ago not anticipating needing them so soon-- when I a relatively new rear tire went I decided to wait to put one of these on-- now I dont have the time to just wait around another 2 or 3 weeks.

selling these tires on ebay wouldnt really work out to my advantage because they sell them cheap-- the tires they sent me are about $32 less a piece.

Dont forget, I get charged a 3% fee for foreign currency exchange- I wont get that refunded. If it was my mistake, I'd eat it, but this is just a royal screw up. Just because both tires say "black chili compound" doesn excuse shipping a freaking clincher tire instead of a tubular. This is something I'd expect from Performance!

There is no good word, because they have not responded to any of my emails- I see a dispute filed w/ my credit card in the future.

That's unfortunate. Is there a local supplier you can buy them from in the mean time?

Mdeth1313

yeah,
I've already gone to plan b, but this sucks- its going to be more expensive than if they did this right. Looks like they're staff is about as knowledgeable as performance bike-- clincher? tubular? arent all tires the same?

My one PBK order they sent KEO Classics in a KEO Sprint box when I ordered sprints, and Silver Sidi's when I ordered black. They credited the difference in price and further discounted the shoes and I kept everything, but it was disappointing enough that I haven't ordered again. Honestly, the prices on most items isn't that much better anymore. I'm sure it's due to the crappy value of the dollar.

What size and color are the GP4000's? If you can't fix things up I'd be willing to take them off your hands. You might want to straighten things out with the cc folks first though.

If you get stuck with them drop me a PM if they're 700x23 all black I'd be interested.

This is the exact reason I don't buy over seas. We don't realize it because we often take it for granted but here in America we get some of the best customer service in the world. Other countries don't have the same customer experience expectation and standards. I've learned this the hard way over the years.

So take me up on it...

well, it looks as if I'll be waiting for a response tomorrow. If I dont hear from them, I put in a call to customer service w/ the visa card-- that usually gets the ball rolling.

Good Luck. This winter I ordered a pair of Conti 4000s one 23mm and one 25mm - they shiped the 23 and sent a Conti GP 4season 25mm instead. I emailed 2x and to this day I have never gotten any kind of reply.

Hey, if they dont respond, it should make it easier to get the chargeback!

In all fairness, I have purchased from them before and when a jersey started unravelling 1 week after I got it, they were on the ball, but it didnt take them 2 days to get back to me.

I had an order 2 weeks ago where a small item (seatpost binder bolt) was not shipped. I sent them an email and never heard back. After a week and a half I decided they had blown we off. Next day I got a credit from their card server place.

I had an issue on a big order I had where they didn't ship a Campy CT UT crank but the invoice looked like it shipped. Checked the website and they were out of stock on what I ordered (actually showed -1). Sent a few emails but didn't get a response. Finally called them and they were super nice but when I finally received the crank they sent a 53 - 39 rather than the compact. Decided to keep it and put it on another bike rather than the one I was building. Reordered the compact when it finally came back in stock and had no problems.

I am surprised the flimsy boxes / packing they use survive international shipping, though.

I ordered some of the 07 Ultegra pedals. I received the 06 version. Price difference is not much. Two emails to them have not been replied to. I ended up putting the ones received on my bike, but it ruins what had, until that point, been perfect service.

Well folks- lesson learned-- USE THE CREDIT CARD!

Last night I called customer service for the card I used to make the purchase. They filed a claim for me and all of the sudden, this morning, I had a reply from probikekit. 4 emails over 4 days and nothing- one phone call to the visa card people and a response.
they offered to refund shipping costs so I can send the tires back. since this has gone the way it has, I told them to refund the difference in the cost of the tires so I dont have to go thru the hassle of shipping them back.
we'll see what happens.

too bad, some of their prices were great, but I dont think I'll be ordering from them anymore.

I placed my first order with them a few days ago. Price for the item was just too good to ignore, especially with a coupon. But I used my credit card just to make sure.

ordered a bunch of conti 4000s for $25 each, 5% off, and free shipping. Ordered on a Friday received 6 days later (in CA). For that, will take my chances...

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them...

My two recent orders for a group and some Gators and a jersey went ok. Both arrived in less than a week and no problems. The box the group was packed in looked like it had been air-dropped from 2500 ft, but everything inside was fine.

Just as a follow-up, I got my order today with no problems or complaints.

Nothing like a little back up from your credit card. I got a response to my email within 6 hours of filing a dispute- I asked for them to refund the difference in cost for the clinchers as opposed to the tubies (a buddy of mine wants them) to save the hassle of returning them overseas. They issued the refund within 24 hours.

I wouldnt blame people for ordering from them-- they usually do well in fulfulling orders-- it would be nice if they responded to their mistakes without having to file disputes.

Ordered my Sprints (KEO) on June15 arrived on the 23! Impressive considering they made half the trip by Canada Post:eek: No duty no GST no PST. $99.50 Canadian. LBS's can stick 165 to 180 where the sun don't shine:thumbsup:

Last Thursday, 6/21, I ordered a set of Look Keo Carbon pedals from PBK. Didn't need them for another week so I thought I'd take a chance on delivery time and the cheap price with no shipping charges. Pedals were in my PO box this morning, Monday 6/25. Go figure... Thursday to...Saturday ?.. they had to be in town Saturday for them to be in my PO box at 7 AM on Monday. Doesn't make sense but works for me.

If you need something in a timely manner, drive over to your LBS, pay a bit more and walk out the door with exactly what you wanted. If you want a deal, order over the internet and sooner or later you'll probably get what you wanted. You can't always have it both ways.

Actually, If you need something in a timely manner, drive over to your LBS, pay a crap load more and maybe walk out the door with exactly what you wanted.
If you dont get what you want, stand out the front and publicly denegrate the shop or better still anonymously attack them on an internet forum.
Whinge, whinge, whinge!!!
It always seems to be the horror stories that people want to post up.
I wonder how often the OP PUBLICLY praises their LBS or online retailer for getting it right??

Kickit, I am not having a chop at you here. Just thought I would elaborate further on your post.

Same issues here. Ordered a large helmet and recieved a large helmet box but a small helmet inside of it. I was pissed. They wanted pictures, so I took them and sent them via email and have not heard from them in three days. The initial shipment was super quick, four days to get to Virginia Beach. Just wish they would reply to the emails....

Yeah, same probs. Ordered some stuff & some of my order wasn't included in the package. Took 4 weeks and 3 emails to resolve. Stuff was also sent to my credit card billing address, not the nominated postal address I stated in my order. I'd still order stuff from them, but I definitely don't rate their approach to resolving their mistakes.

Seeing as I'm the OP, I have praised online retailers for getting it right- do a search! I also noticed others having the same problem I did. Maybe this post will help others deal with PBK when they make a mistake.

Once I filed the claim, they were more than happy to help me. That said, their prices are incredible and I wouldnt blame anyone for ordering from them, just be aware that they do make mistakes and unless you move quickly, they'll do nothing.

I felt I should leave an update on my dealings with PBK. I could not resist their pricing on some tires so I took a chance and ordered 4 more tires and a water bottle. The order arrived in the usual fashion – FAST. This time all the tires were just as I had ordered however they shipped the wrong water bottle. I sent them an e-mail and described the issues I had with my first order and the fact that I never got any kind of reply from my first e-mail. I also described what happened with this order. I received an e-mail from them, the same day - a Sunday, within an hour. They asked that I send them a photo of the incorrectly shipped items and that they would replace them with the items I had ordered. I sent a photo of the bottle but told them that I had installed the tire on another bike and that I was OK with keeping it. They apologized for the issues I had with them and said they would ship me the proper bottle. A few days later I received two of the bottles I ordered.

Everyone screws up, for me it is what we do when we screw up that should define us. As far as I’m concerned I think they made things right and as such I will not hesitate to place additional orders with them. YMMV.

Oh hell- at the prices they have- I placed another order -this time for 1 of the tires I had originally ordered and a can of tubular glue (they have the best price on earth for mastik one).
Besides- I learned- if you dont get a response, file a dispute w/ the credit card and they'll take care of you!

I've ordered from them several times, great prices and unbelievably fast shipping. Anyway I ordered some stuff last week. I get an email saying thanks for the order, as usual, and then I get two emails for the charges. they were for the same amount, but slightly different on the time stamp. I check my credit card online and sure enough there are two "requesting authorizations" for the same amount. I write an email to PBK telling them that, and that I want to make sure I'm not charged twice and/or get two shipments. I get a reply within twelve hours telling me they are going to put a refund through for the second charge, and that there is only one order. the refund showed up the next day or so.
I'm not sure how the double charged occured without a double order, but they fixed the mistake promptly and I received my items without further issues.

Cheers!

My experience is online orders are faster than LBS. Most of the time LBS don't have what you are looking for in stock and need to order it. So you pay full price and have to wait longer than buying it online. Plus you don't need to deal with the attitude of the prick in the LBS or them trying to sell you something they have in stock which you don't want.

Ah, where I live the LBS couldnt survive carrying the weight weenie boutiqe stuff I use. We understand each other and I support the shop by buying a jersey every now and then.

I guess it had to happen- its just too perfect. I ordered a conti comp. tire, which came no problem- the can of vittoria mastik one (tubular glue) that was also in there- was damaged- as in cracked open and glue everywhere. Fortunately the tire was in a box and was (mostly) unscathed.
I'm sure PBK will take care of this- they really need to pack those things a bit better though!

had the EXACT same thing happen with a Vittoria Pit Stop. Must have blown during shipping, as there was splooge all over the inside of the package. Lady emailed me a told me "they sell tons of these, and have never had that problem".

New one arrived a couple of weeks later, but I was initially taken aback by her response, 'cause it seemed to me they were setting up an excuse for not replacing it.

All ended weel, tho YMMV

+1 on the credit card. As a person that works for a bank of a major issuers of credit cards, the merchants in these claim cases choose their battles wisely. The merchants will get fined anywhere from $500+ if cases just go to an arbitrator. Additional charges apply if they are found 'guilty'.
Merchants respond differently from emails received from joe.q.public@aol.com than VP@BIGBANK.COM
