My right 9-speed D/A shifter is dying. If I can't resuscitate it, I'll have to replace it until I can afford a new 10-speed gruppo.

Has anyone tried the new 2007 Tiagra gruppo, or at least the shifters. It looks like the body and ergonomics are similar in design to the 2007 105-D/A stuff. So how would this 2007 low end Tiagra compare against the high end 2003 Dura Ace?

Note that all you need to go 10 speed is the brifters, chain and cassette, no need for a full group.

I'd look for NOS 105 9spd stuff before going Tiagra, or even NOS 9spd Dura-Ace. It's all available if you look around.

Sometimes the newer model lower-end stuff can be of comparable or better quality than last year's higher end stuff. For example 2007 Sram x.7 shifters are just rebadged 2006 X.9 shifters.
