How is Valverde not implicated in Puerto? (from the headline).

Why hasn't Valverde been required to pass a DNA test like Basso?

His bag was labeled "VALV". How hard is that to figure out?

Valverde not implicated in Puerto
Davis, Gil and Osa freed to compete

In yesterday's UCI meeting the relation of Alejandro Valverde in Operación Puerto was clarified. The teams gathered as part of the International Association of Professional Cycling teams (AIGCP), made a decision to limit the cyclists implicated in the Guardia Civil investigation, which also included Allan Davis, Koldo Gil and Aitor Osa.

The discussion of Caisse d'Epargne's Valverde innocence brought heated reactions from the German, Dutch and French team representatives gathered. (Read No EPO in Basso's blood bags but different for Valverde-->

Aussie Allan Davis (Discovery Channel), Spaniards Koldo Gil (Saunier Duval-Prodir) and Aitor Osa were also limited in their alleged involvement in the Puerto investigation and are allowed to continue race. Osa is currently searching for a team and is supposedly linked with Basque formation Euskaltel-Euskadi.

With perfect timing in an article in a German magazine Manzano says he has personally witnessed Valverde doping.

That's because Spain is letting their riders off. Valverde's bags of blood(which they won't DNA test to match Valverde...stupid) had EPO in them.

Then he should be considered "implicated" and not allowed to race the TdF until he proves his innocence.

This also points out how completely ineffectual the new UCI "agreement" that the riders have to sign will be. It requires giving DNA for comparison in any Spanish judicial inquiry but since it wasn't illegal at the time of Puerto there will never be any judicial request.

It really makes me doubt the truth of reports about several Spanish riders cooperating with the UCI since I can't see any reason they would want or have to. Unless they meant they were cooperating by keeping their mouths shut, as the UCI clearly wanted Basso and Scarponi to do with the timing of their no amnesty announcement.

Then he should be considered "implicated" and not allowed to race the TdF until he proves his innocence.First the sentence, then the trial.

There's a double, or selective, standard applied to these cases.
