However, we are likley going to introduce a disc brake model, as well. It's not really intended for CX racing (UIC has not as yet legalized disc brakes), but we sell an awful of X-Ray's to folks who want them fro recreational use, commuters and such. I think the disc model will have a lot of appeal in thos circles and we'll try to spec a triple crank with 50/39/30T, which should be quite appropriate to a model like this. Regards, Jack A. IBEX Bicycles weltyed 07-27-2007, 07:55 AM i would think of goin with a compact crank would be better. well, at least more appealing to me. but im just one guy. i am stuck in teh "triple is for mtb" line of thinking. ibexbikes 07-27-2007, 01:22 PM i would think of goin with a compact crank would be better. well, at least more appealing to me. but im just one guy. i am stuck in teh "triple is for mtb" line of thinking. The X-Ray Race will continue to spec a compact double... it's the new disc model that will have a triple. That one will probably be called the X-Ray Comp and is expected to feature Shimano's latest 4500-series Tiagra... really quite nice... as good as 5500-series 9-speed 105 from a couple of years back, IMO. At any rate, I think a triple will suit that model best since it's intended to be an all-rounder, commuter, whatever-you-want-it-to-be kind of bike. JA Any idea on Price or Color? ibexbikes 07-28-2007, 02:56 PM Any idea on Price or Color?Target price on the X-Ray Comp Disc is somewhere between $700 and $800. I have not made a final decision on the paint yet, but I'm leaning towards Sand Black. Matte colors are hot in MTB's right now and, while I'm not sure they're right for most road bikes, it might look really good on a CX style bike. I'm open to opinions on this. Here's a look at the color I'm talking about on our current Atlas Pro: http://www.ibexbikes.com/images/Bikes/2007/ATLAS-PRO-FRM-720.jpg ... and here's our original 2002 Corrida LT flat-bar road bike with a 50% Black (more of a satin than matte): http://www.ibexbikes.com/images/Bikes/2002/corrida_640.jpg weltyed 07-28-2007, 06:07 PM i guess i can see your point about specing a triple. i guess if you are gonna race, some races might not let you run a disc. so this bike is more for commuters/touring/beer runs. what about throwin a rack on the back? or is that TOO commuter/touring/berr run? plus i guess it would add $25-50. bike_guy 07-30-2007, 09:03 AM The IBEX X-Ray Race model will remain much the same. IBEX Bicycles When do you anticipate the disc model being available? My wife is currently looking at the Race model, but I think she would be more interested in a disc set up. ibexbikes 07-30-2007, 12:46 PM When do you anticipate the disc model being available? BTW, I just re-read the title of the thread. 2088? You'll have to talk to my, as yet unborn, great-grand-kids about our 80-year forcast! They'll be running IBEX by then. I suspect plasma frames and levitation technology will be all the rage! We have one 48cm frame on-hand and we can do a frame swap from a 51cm. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the 2008 X-Ray Race's. We have a new batch of 2007-1/2's that should cover us through this Fall (48/51 mentioned above included). We might just hold off 'til late summer of next year and bring the 2009's out early instead of being late with the 2008's.
