This week-end I did the 600km brevet in San Francisco. 33 hours 16 minutes, including 375 miles and half an hour of sleep. On those long rides, I have the impression to live a whole life in 2 days, being sick, in good shape, cold, warm, hungry and thirsty all the time, seeing lots of places.... my worst problem this time was to keep from overheating. I was putting a wet towel on my head all the time, and pouring water on it every half hour or so.

Was a pretty good ride, but I need to do a few more 600K before starting to think about the 'real-thing': 1200km brevets.

Impressive. Quite an accomplishment. Just curious. How many miles a week did you train on average to prepare?

Hell of a ride man, you and your mates should be elated (and beat)!! You came right through my hood as well. The bridge on Whites Hill where you peeled off warmies is a couple miles from me. Don't think I have the stomach or the brain for that 600k stuff though. You have my admiration.

my training is very bad, typically 100 miles on saturday, and nothing the rest of the week, sometimes a 25 miles group ride on wednesday. 3100 miles in 2004... oops, no, now it's closer to 3500.

Apart from butt & feet really hurting, I was surprised to be still in good shape at the end. I could have ridden longer, but the night part is really difficult, especially between midnight and 5am.

I've been off the bike due to injuries and surgery this year & my goal for the year was to do at least a 200 & 300 K! It looks like i'll be reading RBR ride reports rather than posting my own this year.l

Great accomplishment! You're ready for PBP!!! (or the warmup - BMB) Go for it!
