I'm trying to upgrade my road bike to compact gearing. Does anyone have any ideas for deals on compact cranks? Maybe carbon or something lighter weight.

Thanks!

I've been riding a Ritchey WCS Carbon Compact for a couple of months and absolutely love it.

-Have you had any trouble with a slight wobble in the crank? I have used 2 WCS (aluminum) cranks on my cyclocross bike and both have had a slight wobble. Ritchey told me there was a problem with the forging process on their cranks, but they would not replace it because the crank is safe to use, just not smooth.

Thanks,
Ryan

I've had the Richey for two years. Can't say I've noticed a wobble, but I haven't looked for one. Great performance, great price.

I've been using the WCS Compact Carbon for 2+ months on my commuter bike. It gets 150+ miles on it a week. So after a total of 1,600 miles +/- a few, I haven't noticed any wobble and i've been putting some pretty heavy torque on it as well...

I own an aluminum Ritchey compact and no wobble there. I love it.

Funny you mention. I am on a borrowed bike currently that has the Ritchey cranks. Yesterday was my second ride and I noticed a wobble. I checked them this morning before my ride thinking one of the arms was no loose. Nothing. Both were tight. I rode today and it was noticable again but I have yet to pull the arms off and double check the BB.
