I injected my wife with the cycling bug
Hello everyone just need some opinions and or advise on this: I just started cycling last year and have really taken to it, I really do love everything cycling related, so much that it has rubbed on my wife as well and now I'm gonna buy her a road bike which she will ride everyday to commute to work( total 4miles round trip) and to go on regular rides with me on the weekends, so we got $1,000 to spend but I can't make up which is better between Fuji, trek, specialize or cannondale, or shwinn what do you all think...
I say shop around. Look around at Jamis, Felt and the likes. You will get a far better equiped bike than you will get from the big manufacturers like trek and specialized.
Congrats on getting to ride with your wife. I think.
Cycling should be fun. The rules are stupid. Ride because you love to ride. --QED
The one that fits her best, and that feels and looks the best to her. Seriously, that's it. There is no significant difference between brands at a given price point that matters more than fit and feel and what she likes.

And to you, best wishes for happy rides and marital bliss.
I agree with the suggestions above, in that she needs to try them all out.
That being said, my wife and I just went through this and she really did try them all out. She said that the Cannondale Synapse had the best ride of them all by a wide margin. In her opinion, based on the feel of the ride (very subjective, I know), no other bike was in the same ballpark. She bought the Cannondale Synapse 6.
Just one person's experience, but it may give you a starting point. Good luck!!
The only thing I'd add to "all of the above" is when your wife is shopping for bikes, she discuss her intended uses/ goals with them. A 4 mile round trip commute could easily be done on a hybrid (among other types of bikes), so depending on how long (or short) those weekend rides are, you might have some viable options for well under your 1k mark.
