1st cyclocross bike purchase, NOS Trek XO2 or??
The title sums it up! I’m trying to get back into biking after an accident that I had a couple years ago that resulted in a broken left ankle and torn ligaments in my right! Prior to my accident I was biking regularly, give or take 100 miles a week on back roads and local bike trails. Anyway I’d like to buy a cyclocross bike or something similar, our local bike shop has a 56cm NOS 2010 Trek XO2 that fits me. They are asking $1600 for it, it’s never been ridden, full Sram Rival build kit etc. I’m just not sure if it’s a good deal or not, they claim it was $2500 new. Would this make a good first Cyclocross / road bike? I don’t plan on racing, It will be used for back roads and C&O canal bike trail use, more like a fitness bike than anything. I looked at new Cannondales this past weekend, and in this price range you don’t get the Rival components or even comparable. Let me know what you think! Im not too thrilled about the colors, its bright red and white but if it’s a good deal Im going to pull the trigger! I have an apt with the owner for tomorrow morning to have him properly fit me on it etc. so any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks … Matt

I am also looking at a used Gunnar Crosshairs, its a 56cm and according to the seller, it has a 31.5" stand over, which is too tall for me, but its the same size as the Trek XO2 that fits me fine. I like the Gunnar steel frame but cant afford to spend this much cash on a bike, have it shipped only to have it be too tall for me!
