Are you sure it's 9 speed? IIRC Sora back then was 8 speed.
FWIW, I think the price is high for a low level used bike that's 10 years old.

A new Sora bike is only like $700, any more than a couple years old is not worth $400. Sora stuff is not exactly known for being durable either.

    Guys,

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I'm currently assessing this bike on craigslist. The poster listed it as a 2010 but the picture indicates 2002. How would I go about purchasing, or would it be a good purchase at all, if I got it for under $200?

    Bump --

    Guys,

I'm new. I can't start threads yet. However, I found out that the bike I looked at was, in deed, an '02 Allez A1 24. The kicker is that it had an ultegra derailleur and a carbon seat post.

I really need to know what it would be worth right now.

    Please help me out.

    Thanks.

My first road bike was a 2003 Specialized Allez Elite, which was a much better bike (full Shimano 105 group and carbon fork), and that was $1060 (after tax) brand new. Today it wouldn't be worth $200, so in short you're not getting a good deal. Find a bike that's two or three years old which was originally priced around $900-1000. There's no sense in paying that much money for an 11-year-old bike.

I think different regions yield different prices. I paid $350 for my 2004 Allez Elite 2 years ago, which honestly is a good deal compared to what others are asking for bikes in my area.

    Its a good bike...buy it!!

The guy wouldn't take my offer anyway. He wants like $400 for it; so definitely no deal.
