    I'm thinking with a 105 crankset, brakeset & pedals, a new saddle
(depending on the rider), this'll be a nice steel ride.

It'd be nice in a Dark Green with some Olive Brown/Green accents
(maybe Cranberry Red and or Gold striping?) and a more classic lettering style.

Maybe a nice Tan/Brown Brooks Saddle & Leather Bar Tape?

Besides the paint job, that'll keep the bike at under $1,500.

    Here's a close up shot: http://www.schwinnbike.com/SchwinnFi...10LETL_313.jpg

The welds look tight, but lugs would've been nice.

I like it! Pretty heavy, but with some smart upgrades could be a nice fun bike

Not that it matters a whole lot, but with some lighter wheels and tires (especially the tires) you could probably drop a couple of pounds from the weight of the bike.

there is an article in the new issue of Bicycling magazine about the Schwinn. The reviewer seems to like it. I was wondering who would carry this bike? Performance? Better wheels and perhaps a carbon fiber fork, couple of other items changed as well, it could be reasonable. I love the ride of steel.

    Stock wheelset w/skewers: 2400g's
    $300. OP/Ultegras 1850g's

The 105 crankset & brakes I suggested, plus a good saddle
and a set of 230g Wellgo MG8's could drop another pound.

    $699 sounds sub-100
