    I was about to reply to this thread and then I noticed I already had- 12 years ago.

    It's still a great bike but just not with the original 19mm tires.

    I surely did notice how tight was the clearance for tires. No way you're getting away with anything passed 25. I had a great opportunity to purchase a almost like new SR400 (1989) and although it was truly gorgeous, it didn't make sense to buy that bike for what I wanted to do with it, which is use it on long weekend rides. I will most likely use 700x28 for comfort, so there goes the sr400! I'm gonna start over and look for a late 80s steel bike instead, which will likely be much more reliable, confortable and probably cheaper than the sr400 I was eying.
