Entry-level Racing Bike - Which of these four?

I am interested in getting into road bike racing. I had my MTB stolen a year ago and took a break from the sport as I couldn't afford to return. Now I am interested in shifting gears and try a start into road bikes. I intend to compete in road bike events in the future.
I have a budget of around a $1000. I have narrowed it down to four bikes and would like the opinion of a more experienced crowd.

    #1 Specialized Allez Elite
    #2 Giant OCR 1
    #3 Trek 1500
    #4 Cannondale R600

Which of these bikes do you believe would perform better over the long run? I intend to buy as much bike as possible as that seems to the consensus in the bike world. I will be riding on mostly level terrain (Kansas). I know I can't expect to get much for the budget I have but I hope to get the most I can. If you know of any other bikes in this range that might outperform the above please share.

    Thank you ahead of time.

I was looking at 3 of these bikes (1, 2 and 4) for awhile. I just bought a Cannondale R600. Im very happy with it. The R600 is a nice bike and has the CAAD5 frame and a 105 set, mostly. Ive been disappointed with the Front Derailleur, but it is a cheap upgrade to replace that. Ive had it a few weeks and have about 200 miles on it.

I didn't get the Giant because it seemed much heavier.
I didnt get the Specialized because I didn't like the ride.

I got the R600 because I took a test ride and it rode really nice. I haven't been too disappointed. I guess that if I had to do it over again, I would have gotten one of the Leader 780R bikes, or maybe one of the Scattante CFR bikes.

Good luck. I hope you are happy with what you get. I think that the important thing isn't so much what you are on, but the riding.
