    Giant TCR team buying advice

    Hello,
I came across a giant tcr team frame with the following components going for SGD 1800 (~USD 1200). Please comment if is worth the price. This is my first road bike purchase. Are there things I should be vary about? Thanks

Giant TCR Team frame-(don't know the model year)
    Shimano ultegra rear derailleur
    Shimano 105 crank set
    Shimano Tiagra front derailleur
    Shimano Sora shifters

The bike fits and feels good, though I haven't taken it for a test ride.
The LBS guy says it's just TCR team (older model), not TCR advanced or alliance.

That's a strange combination of components. Sora shifters are 8 speed, the rest is 9 or 10 speed stuff. That's just a real goofy way to put together a bike. Sometimes bike manufacturers do mix compenets, but they stay within the same gear range (e.g. 10 speed 105 shifters, but 10 speed ultegra deraileurs).

If they're telling you it's new, they're lying! It's either a rebuild of someone's old frame, or they built up the bike with spare parts

Thanks for that lance; I called the shop and their explanation wasn't reassuring. I will not be buying that bike.
