    Stem Angle

    Hi..

I have STEM angle of 7 degrees and I need to replace as its slightly cracked at one of the tightening screw. Can I replace with a 17 Degree stem instead as it would be more comfortable.. Does it require any serious change or adjustment esp in cable lengths for break and gear or any other issue that may arise..?
    Thanks.

Make sure you get your diameters right. If you change the lenght of the stem it will effect that other stuff, but unless you have really tight cables, YGTG.

You can punch in your stem angle and length here to see how it changes your reach.

Edit: I dont see my link. Google stem length calculator and its the first hit. Yojimg

Yes, you might find your cables are too short, depending upon how long they are now.

That fact is you won't know for sure if your cables will reach until you try it. Going from a 7D to 17D stem isn't that large a difference, so I doubt you will have any cable reach problems unless they are already sized very tight.
