campy chorus rear hub 6 - 7 speed

I have my eyes set on a new pair of wheels for my 86 Merckx. I've seen a nice set of Mavic's with Campy chorus hubs. Currently the rear hub is mounted with a 6speed freewheel.

I was wondering if my 7speed freewheel will work as well on these wheels?

I'm a correct when I think as long as the hub matches up with the rear spacing of my frame it will work out?

    Thank you very much

I have an '85 Merckx, 126mm rear spacing. started with a 6 spd freewheel, then upgraded to later C Record Syncro 2 shifter with a 7 speed freewheel.

so, to recap, the cog spacing changed between 6 & 7 speed, but the overall dimension remained about the same. so, yes it will work, but obviously if you want indexed shifting you will need to change. btw I'm using the Record 8 spd downtube shifter - works very well with very positive shifting. the 8 spd shifter works because cog spacing remained the same between the 7 and 8 speed era's.
