    Mount Dachstein – a 3 day journey!

Due to illness I couldn’t ride my bikes as much as I would have during sommer. End of August my doc proved I’m ok 100% again and my wife allowed to spend a weekend just for me on my road bike in September.

So I decided to do my first more than 1 day bike journey. The plan was to ride through Niederösterreich, Steiermark, Salzburg and Oberösterreich and to a trip around Mount Dachstein.

day 2: my route on strava

this was a very long day, unfortunately the energy of my Garmin 305 lasted as long as my personal one. so in reality the day-trip was about 204km

in total 521km and 5423hm with less than 24 hours traveling time.

If you ever have the chance to spend time for a such a trip through Austria I would recommend it.

Very quiet streets, not too much traffic, roads mostly in good/very good conditions (only one exception: Gesäuse in Styria/Steiermark) and a very very nice landscape

Awesome trip! I would love to do something like that someday. I will have to train more before I attempt such a trip. Beautiful photos and the weather looks like it cooperated.

Completely awesome. Only problem with riding there is that I'd want to stop every 100 feet and just gawk at the incredible scenery! Thanks so much for the post.
