I have an older steel race bike that has no rack/fender eyelets. I bought the bike equipped with fender (I think Planet-X brand although I'm not sure.)
My problem is that the fender's thin steel mounting hardware for the rear fender is held in place by the QR skewer at the dropout. This isn't working because every time I put any kind of force on the pedals, the wheel slips out of the dropouts. The thin metal of the fender mount is too slick and no matter how tight I get the QR, my legs can still pull the wheel out of the drops. Is there a way I can attach the fender to the seat stay instead without buying a whole new fender system? Does some company sell just the mounting hardware? I didn't see anything at the LBS.
