    a ride of firsts

I finally got my steamroller aka "The BaroneSS" ready...

51 km for its birthday today
    facts...
this is my first road bike
this was my first SS ride
this was my first roadie ride in two years... second since I "formally" got into cycling.

it was weird, sometimes painful, but painfully good!

the ride was pretty flat..the bikes has a 48x18 setup... the little girl in me made me buy a 42 ring during the building process but after this ride I think I won't use it...the gearing was hard at times, but I think I'll get used to it and get my legs beat it with some training.

As long as I stay away from big grades!!

I have to get used to the position and also brake that Brooks soon!

I promise pics a reports in the near future!

That looks great. Love the color. 1 question...why did you put the bottle cage on the seat tube? It's easier to reach on the down tube.
Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them you'll be a mile away & you'll have their shoes.

well, Surly is Surly and this frame only has bottle mounts on the seat tube...on the other hand, I'm used to pick my bottles from there...on short rides on my mtbs there is where I put my one bottle...guess I'm weird like that hehe

Tell me about it. I hate that Surly placed the one cage mount on the Steamroller's seat tube. It's great fun reaching for a drink there while spinning a fixie.

Edited to add: Nice color OP.

good looking rig, look like you have flip-flop hub there going to run fixed gear at some point? I rode a fixed gear for about a year. Pretty fun but not my cup of tea.
