Sunday was so absolutely perfect that we just had to ride. We didn't feel like driving anywhere so we just left from our driveway and meandered towards the mountains. I've posted pictures from parts of this route before, but hey, nothing like some new pics of some old stuff. Anyway, as mentioned, Sunday was about perfect. 50 degrees when we left the house but in the mid seventies when we got back a couple hours later (welcome to Carson City's temperature extremes). We joined up with our friend Doug who had just the day before ridden the Sierra Tahoe Century and wanted a recovery ride. He didn't get much of the recovery but he got a good ride and was pretty happy. I always like riding with him. He's a cancer survivor who in his early sixties lost a good portion of one of his lungs. He rides to live now I think and has an unbelievable ability to ride forever. Not fast mind you but he never stops. Anyway, here's the pics.
We rode up and through Washoe Valley and back to Carson City. Overall it was a little less than 40 miles with our meandering about. This was just about right for everyone I think. My wife is fighting off a vicious cold (and was too stubborn not to ride) and Doug was getting tired. Personally, I think all I was thinking about was a large sandwich or something. We did stop by a partly abandoned ranch to pick plums and apples for a couple of minutes. They were pretty good stuff. I tried to get a picture of my bike in front of a flag but it decided it would rather take a swim in a scum covered irrigation ditch. You can almost see the wheel sticking up. Luckily it washed off fine. Sometimes I think riding without a purpose is the best way to ride.
Any time you want to post pics of mountains, trees, and bikes, you go right ahead - even if it's the same mountains, trees, and bikes you posted the day before! Living vicariously through other people's rides is how I make it through the work day.

Hi, I just moved to Carson. I'm wondering if you can post up a route map for that ride perhaps? Just got here on Saturday, bikes arrived on Wednesday, and I'm going stir-crazy for a ride!
Thanks!
Here's the Route we took (more or less) for that ride. Just check out the link. I'm going to post another very good Carson ride on Routeslip but it'll be later today. I'll PM you with it.
Here's one more. From the Target on Jack's Valley Road around Diamond Valley. This one is a little longer but can be broken up into sections depending on where you start. I.e. can shorten it up by starting in Genoa or bottom of Kingsbury.
Wow, thanks! Above and beyond. Thanks man!
Routeslip, never heard of that site before, I'll have to check it out a bit more!
Thanks again!
