I recently bought a clearance 2006 K2 Astral 5.0 to replace the 2007 K2 Astral that got stolen off my back porch. Apparently they went away from the Truvativ/PowerSpline crankset configuration in the 2007 model and I now know why. 6 months of riding and the PowerSpline BB is creaking like the devil. I've ordered a replacement for the BB for now (at least their cheap), but would like to get away from this configuration entirely down the road. How complex would it be to swap out the current Truvativ Isoflow triple (52/42/30) for different triple setup (probably ISIS)? Do I need to match up the tooth count? Is this something better left to my local shop?
Thanks for you input.
