Campy Chorus 10 Speed - Skipping Gears - Constant Rubbing - Shifts too far

Anyone got any ideas, I feel like I have tried everything. I have a 10 speed campy derailleur, cassette, and shifter, however, it will only click 8 times to make it through all 10 gears. Somewhere it will always shift 2 gears, same on way up as it is on the way down, sometimes it skips different gears. So alot of the gears rub, and I am constantly fighting to keep it in correct gearing.

If I adjust the limit screws to allow the chain to go off of the largest cog, it will shift 9 times, but as soon as i re-setup the derailleur, only 8 times till it is off of the top cog. I have reset the derailleur multiple times, I have used park tool to make sure derailleur hanger is not bent.

I'm staring to lean towards the cassette having the wrong spacing. Could there be anything else that I am missing? Could the shifter itself be causing it to over shift?

It sounds like your setup may just be wrong if you are only getting 8 clicks.

Go back to basics. Take off the cable and start again. Get the chain running just right on the smallest cog using the outer stop, then attach cable with tension, and adjust tension so you get a shift on the first click.

Is it a Campy cassette? Have you messed with the spacers? Campy instructions are online.

How old/well used is the shifter?

Sounds like you have the cable on the wrong side of the derailleur bolt.

Agreed, There's many ways to mess things up.

Go to the Campy tech docs site and look at the RD instructions as well as for the cassette.

Got it! Cable was on the wrong side of the derailleur bolt. Had it on the outside instead of the inside, causing it to travel a different ratio per pull. Once I put it on the correct side, got it shifting perfectly with all nine clicks through all 10 gears. Thanks guys!
