    DA-9000 38 inner chainring

So I have come into possession of a Dura-Ace 9000 38-tooth inner chainring. Just wondering if anybody uses a 38, and if they pair it with a 52 or a 53?

I'm usually riding 53-39, also have 52-36 setup which I had used for a while... I'm wondering if the 38 would give me just a little more help for bailout gearing on steeps but would still pair well with the 53?

    Any thoughts?

Well, it's a little more - very little, only about 2.5%. Is that enough to matter to you? As for pairing with 53, the exact gearing sequence depends on your cassette. Plug it in a good gear chart and see. It's not gong to be a big difference. And the ratio between the two rings is closer than your 52-36, so if you can live with that you can live with this.

If you were going to go out and buy it, I wouldn't bother. But since you have it, it's not much trouble to give it a try.

Hmm, well I see I have the wrong 52 for this ring and a 53 won't do at all... so I'll probably not use it. Thanks!
