    Differences beween Sram 1091 & 1091r chains

I just took delivery of my new Domane Project One with new Sram Red.
I noticed that it has a 1091 chain, not a 1091r on it.
Is there a major difference between the two chains?
Is this something that I should be concerned about?
At least I'm enjoying the ride.

I should have asked if anyone had used both chains & noticed a difference, or if new Red spec'd the 1091r.
At least I'm enjoying the ride.

there are also some very slight differences in the shapes of the outside plates. the weight loss comes from the holes, and the profile changes are supposed to quiet things down a bit.
i've used all of them, and currently use a 1070. with the 'new' Red cassette or a 1070 my drivetrain is basically silent. i've never noticed any difference in shifting.

Like many high-end components, the 1091R chain includes many subtle improvements and enhancements designed almost entirely to extract exorbitant amounts of cash from gullible well-heeled cyclists. I should know, I'm running 1091R chains right now...but at least I got a good deal on them.
    ... 'cuz that's how I roll.
