FD 7803 with 9 speed chain?

I'm doing a bit of work on my LHT over the winter, I just found a Dura Ace FD 7803 triple front derailleur for a great deal and would like to replace the stock Tiagra FD.

I'm running IRD Defiant Triple cranks (48-36-24t) and the Tiagra was really fussy in the granny gear with a 20t capacity, I'm hoping the 22t capacity of the 7803 would improve the shifting. I'm just wondering if the 7809 is 9 speed compatible (no chain width problems?)

9s chains are a hair wider than 10s, so the cage will be that much narrower. It isn't a big difference, and will work but might make trimming a bit more critical. If your left lever has the extra "trim click" it won't be an issue, but could become one at the fringes if the lever doesn't provide for trimming.

Solving any problem requires understanding the underlying cause
