As anyone will tell you, a saddle is personal. What works for one may not work for countless others. I haven't done a lot of saddle reviews on RBR, but I felt compelled to do one on the Kurve after a month of ride time.
Let me preface this review by saying that I am to saddles as Emelda Marcos is to shoes. I can't get enough of them, but that's not because I have some strange fascination with them and consider them bike jewelry (that may be true for wheels). It's because I must have a sensitive rear end, and no saddle has ever been "perfect". To give you some perspective, I have ridden more than a dozen different brands over the years, and also 5 different Fiziks alone (came the closest to working for me prior).
When I ride split saddles, I tend to get hot spots on my sit bones when the ride goes long enough (more the 60 miles), or on day two of a back to back. Even if the hotspots are super prevalent, at the least I will end up with saddle sores. That's been true for every cutout or indented saddle, and it was most prevalent with a Selle SMP. This is a shame because I tended to feel so good crouching lower and still getting power with the Selle, but I could only get 25 miles out of it until it was unbearable on the rump. A crit-only saddle on its own post? I considered it.
For non-cutout saddles, I would experience uncomfortableness in the perennial region. Not fun. I tended to find myself hoping out of the saddle more at the end of rides just to give myself a little relief.
So, the Kurve, by contrast, is the first saddle that I've ridden that gives me absolutely no hot spots whatsoever, no matter how long the distance, and how many back-to-back I give it. And I also feel no discomfort whatsoever in the perennial area. Basically, this is the first saddle I've ridden that I've been able to just completely forget about entirely I can't tell you how nice it is to concentrate on aspects of the ride that aren't saddle-related.
Of course, your experience may not be the same, but I'm glad I took the gamble in this case, and I will be converting other bikes to Kurve in the near future.
