Mixing Shimano and Sram

Can the smoothness of a Shimano cassette and chain (and maybe chainring) be mixed with the lightness of Sram shifters, dérailleurs, brakes and crankset/arm?

Just wondering coz to me the general consensus seems to be that Sram is light, but somewhat clunky. I'd like to shift to Sram, but I value a smooth running drivetrain more than lightweight.

Khuan...Thanks for the question because I was getting ready to ask something similar. I was also wondering if I have 2009 Ultegra SL on my scoot, can I run a SRAM cassette and if so, are there any considerations with the Shimano chain or do you have to use a SRAM chain?
