Mounting Flat Mount Disc Brakes on a Frame not designated as flat mount?

I am looking at setting up a new road bike this off season, and have found a very nice frame to make the build. It is set up for disc brakes but is a couple years old so it has the little posts on the fork and back of the frame where the brakes mount (not flat mount).

I would like to get the new shimano Di-2 r 8070 group set that uses the hydraulic disc brakes, but they are designated as Flat mount disc brakes. Can I install flat mount disc brakes on a frame that is not designed for flat mount disc brakes? Can you buy an adapter to make it work? If anybody with expertise in this area could help it would be greatly appreciated.

    1. I'm not 100% certain, but I'm fairly sure that flat-mount calipers will ONLY fit on a flat-mount frame. (The "adapters" out there are to go the other way: to make post-mount calipers fit to a flat-mount frame.)

    2. But post-mount calipers will work just fine with your groupset, and they aren't that expensive at all: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/s...-brake-caliper

I'm sure you can sell the 8070 calipers easily, as they will be "ultegra" branded, unlike all the flat-mount calipers up to now. (I'd buy them!)
