Moustache/Cruiser Type Bars That Take STI?

Does anyone know of any bars similar to the SOMA Sparrow that are compatible with STIs? Thinking of turning my Cross Check into a cruiser/grocery getter for the summer.

The only ones I know of are the true Nittos. Too bad they dont come in oversize clamp diameters.

Hmmm. May have to go bar ends and levers then.

Here's some pictures of a Soma Sparrow with STI mounted:

Yah, he mentioned those. They have a tighter bend than the Nittos. I think its s preference though.

Oh, I thought you meant they were the only ones. Any mustache bar should work.

If you want 31.8, FSA and Civia come to mind. Just do a search for "31.8 mustache handlebar".

Interesting. I really like the Sparrows, but found this in the FAQ section on the SOMA site:

    Sparrow Bar 490/520/560

What grips/levers are these handlebars compatible with?

Compatible with MTB grips and shifters (road brake levers, e.g. Shimano STI will not work). The bar ends are designed to fit Soma pursuit levers or bar end shifters, which is recommended since its narrowness prevents it from fitting side-by-side shifters and brake levers unless you trim the grips.
    Fits 3-speed Sturmey Archers great.

This Nitto moustache bar would work. While it has a 26.0 mm stem clamp diameter, it does have the 23.8 mm STI shifter clamp diameter you need.

It may be a bar diameter issue, but that doesn't mean it can't be fixed with a shim under the lever band clamp.

Absolutely. On the other hand, why kludge it if you don't have to? The 26.0 mm bar clamp diameter stems are out there. This one (Leadtec LCS7091) even comes in 17 degrees for that parallel-to-the-ground classic look. Note: Moustache bars put your hands way out there, so you may need a significantly shorter stem than you use with road- or straight flat bars.

That's a pretty stem for $22. And I agree - 26.0 or 25.4 stems are not hard to find. Neither are mustache bars.

not exactly a mustache bar, but Salsa has a very comfortable but weird looking drop bar that flares out. I have one on my Fargo. I would not hesitate to use it for the purpose you discribe.
