    New Pedals

So I got rid of my shimano clipless pedals and I'm in the market for a new set. I have found really good deals on the mavic race pedals and the time xpresso 2.

The mavics looks really sturdy and are supposedly pretty smooth.

The times are roughly the same price and are 100g lighter.

Does anyone have experience with any of these or any input?

Is there another pedal around this price range (40-50) that I should be looking at? Thanks.

they are just variations of the original Look pedal.

If you're looking at an alternative style pedal... Speedplay and it won't be in the $40-$50 range.

They're not hyped as aggressively as Time and Mavic. :-)

    New Pedals

I have around 30k miles on my Dura Ace pedals. At this point I don't think they're ever going to wear out.

It's not any option at all if he meant what he said in the first line of his post, since he already got rid of them.

i had the look blade pedals and they performed great. but, early this year the body cracked. they were replaced under warranty, but, while i waited for them, i used the Shimano PD-7900. these are amazing pedals. i liked them so much that i sold the Look Blade Ti replacements and kept the Shimanos. they have a more positive hold on the shoe. it might be me, but, i like the Shimano engagement much better.

I know nothing of the Mavics, but speaking of Times - actually, it's the Shimano SPD SL pedals that are essentially clones of the general design and function of Look pedals. Times are very different - totally different engagement mechanism, cleat design and float. Speedplay are also very (more?) different as you say.

I'm not saying anything against any of the pedals because they all work well. If I were OP, I'd just pick the ones that meet his personal criteria in terms of price, weight, color, design, whatever. There's no disappointment that I've ever heard of in the major brands of pedals. They're all good, to be honest, and the only meaningful factor is personal preference.
