Has anyone had an experience using rotor cranks? Sepcifically for road racing and hill climbs.

I bought a set for my recumbent Catrike Road.

They are expensive. Many believers of them, and I am a believer.

I experienced knee pain and found the cranks reduced the pain substantially. Also, found hill climbing much easier. The cranks allow a more thorough turn, no dead space.

Depends upon your need and available cash.

I had a need and the cash.

Yes, there is quite a buzz about them in recumbent circles, but pros are racing them in Europe as well. http://www.rotorcranksusa.com/

    Be careful on the buzz

These units have been on the market for a few years, and have not caught on. Patents on similar concepts were first issued in the late 1800s. Every few years, someone comes out with a miracle like this, and they never do catch on. I've seen at least a half dozen since I got into cycling. YMMV.
