Selle Italia SLR Team Edition Saddle height...

    Hi there,

I'm hoping that someone can tell me the height of the Selle Italia SLR Team Edition seat.

Just got a new ride and the seat with the bike is brutal. It's also got a no cut frame (Madone) and the height of the Bontrager Affinity 2 seat is 50mm (rail to the top of the seat). I"m looking for a saddle that is at maximum 50mm, preferably less. I used to have the Fizik Arione on my old bike and it was awesome but kind of just looking around right now.

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

Hi steve, I know the standard SLR with metal rails is lower than the carbon railed one by a few mm.

The measurement you are asking for is hard to do without knowing exactly where you want the measurement taken from..

Good point. Although judging from your picture, it's about the same spot that I'm looking at. I guess mount point to where you sit. Here's a picture of mine currently.

One thing to be cautious of,other than taking advice from people like me who have obviously used an SLR saddle over and beyond its useful life, is that the carbon rail are bigger than the metal rails.

I've got a Scott Addict, and the Stubbie Seat clamp thing requires a special clamp for carbon rails because they are lager than the metal ones.

My SLR is also well used, which may mean it is less tall than a new one...

Hmm I should check my Madone seat cap before ordering but I'm assuming it would work. Better safe than sorry though! Or head down to the LBS and see...

Yeah, the 2012 ones are about a centimeter taller. Too bad, I was hoping for something low profile like yours.

    Thanks for the help though!
