    Shimano CX triple?

I found a photo of the 2014 Salsa Vaya 2 from the QBP dealer camp, which now has Shimano 105 components instead of the Apex on the 2013 model. The crankset appears to be Shimano CX, but instead of the cyclocross 46-36 compact double, it is a triple. I cannot find this on the Shimano site or anywhere else. Is is hiding in plain sight, or is this a new component?

The only thing different about the CX crank is the ring size. It's just a 105 / Sora crank.
And the crank in this pic looks to be either a 105 or Sora ( the difference is the quality of the chain rings.)

Shimano makes several cranksets (among other things) that are not part of the standard groups.

My guess is that you're looking at an FC-R553 crankset, or it's black equivalent.

Thanks. Just wondering why they would put this triple on a bike with 105 shifters and both front and rear derailleurs if it is a 105 level crank with standard triple gearing. I guess having the chain rings look just like the ones on the CX 70 gives it more gravel cred.
