Well yes, it looks high-end and costs accordingly. Now let us know if it performs high-end as well. My 23-year old Silca is still going strong, so there are very high standards in the world of bicycle pumps. :-)

Seriously, if you are in need of a pump, you should try this it is really really more than looks.

I know what "uber" means (even if I don't know how to get my keyboard to make an umlaut). The point of my weak joke was that >90$ for a floor pump is excessive IMO, and I could never justify it. Any of numerous models selling for <50$ do the job perfectly IME. Twice the money for a digital gauge and slick looks is overkill, IMHO.

    But it is pretty.

What I actually liked best about your post is learning that there's a pump called "Phaart."

Phaart is funny, but not near Airace when it comes down to quality. I understand your opinion about pricing, but seriously, don't you think you can apply that to everything from pumps, groupsets, wheelsets, stems, handlebars to frames and you name it?
I know people who says same about everything i buy, all hobbies i have ever had. Well, i understand you as mentioned, but i swear unless you used the thing...
To be frank i had exactly same opinion, so i bought the Phaart. Then i happened to return the Phaart and bought this since the Phaart i bought annoyed the hell out of me. I had to take another pump, so i put up some extra thinking, that Airace piece must seriously be freakin great. It's not like we're talking blood, sweat and tears loans for years here

Just got a Lezyne Alloy Floor Drive for $44 off chainlove. I don't know why they are doing that sale (chainlove is the clearance rack for competitivecyclist.com, usually for dumping last year's stock), but the chuck is the newer yellow version that's better on the valves. It's working well as expected for a pump that normally costs $80

I have the full CNC Lezyne. Of course, it's no better than loads of $50 models. (In fact, the gauge is WAY off.) I got it for the looks. I have a "bike room." So for me it's worth it to have my pump double as a work of art. If it was in the garage, I wouldn't care much.

It WOULD be cooler if it was named Phaart. (But the one in the original post is not attractive, in my opinion.)

The valve attachement is rock solid, the pump is doing high psi without any effort really and the gauge is very precise on the Airace Hercules (the Phaart was Deluxe version, but not to compair). The sturdiness, the brushed aluminum panels and sheer weight is ofcourse a bonus. For looks and feel i can't really say much more than i love it (again, some seem to hate this piece). I've tried Lezynes, but i prefer this one without hesitation. Thread was not ment to upset even though some seems to take it so (sadly). As long as everybody is happy, it must be good

I bought the original SKS Rennkompressor in Germany, probably about 30 years ago. I checked on Amazon, and they sell a model that still looks exactly like the one I bought, except for the color and the valve head. This things has served me well for the last 3 decades, with no maintenance whatsoever. According to the Amazon blurb, I can still buy a rebuild kit for the pump if I ever need it. Plus, this is what they say about it:
    • The Rennkompressor is the sole legitimate ancestor
      of all floor pumps
      .
    • Features EVA head for presta or schrader
      connection
    • 230 PSI max.
So, if you want an "Über-Pump", this is the one. P.S.: Rumor has it that, if you ever need spare parts, you call their US head quarters, and they'll send you the parts for free. Can't confirm or deny that one, since I have never needed any parts, however.

That digital readout must take a battery, no?

If it does, why not just get a compressor and plug it in?

Silly me. I thought the floor pump to end all uber-floor pumps was the Silca.

Wish i could say the same. I had the same pump and the lever on the head was way too hard to flip over and engage the connection. I hated it so sold it for nearly what i paid.

The Rennkompressor has a replaceable pump head and you have 4 types to chose from, the one that comes standard has indeed a strong clamp, and that is good to pump high PSIs, if you need lower PSIs ( on the 80-110 range) you can get a dual head with softer clamp or an old style brass one that doesn't even have a clamp.

Must get an SKS Rennkompressor so that I can air up while wearning my Assos Sturmnuss, Climaschutz and Falkenzahn, dreaming I'm a member of their Werksmannschaft.
They do anything just to win a salami in ridiculous races. I take my gear out of the car and put my bike together. Tourists and locals are watching from sidewalk cafes. Non-racers. The emptiness of those lives shocks me. It was the illest of times, it was the dopest of times. And we looked damn good. Actually the autobus broke down somewhere on the Mortirolo.

The character appears when you release "alt" on a PC. I'm not sure how it works on a Mac.
