Ultegra 2 Dura ace upgrade question.

I have a road bike that came with complete ultegra. The front der. moves 3 clicks so does the left shifter but it came with double crank. In order to go to big ring I got to press twice and twice backwards for small ring.
I want to upgrade to dura ace 7700. here is the tricky part to this upgrade. The left new shifter is a double only. Will it work with the current triple ulterga 6500 front derailleur or do I need to change it and get a double FD also?

    thanks

I think your just pressing hard enough to engage the trim? Try pressing the lever harder to get the whole shifts. It also could be miss adjusted since the left STI shifters designed for triples are very tricky to get right on a double.

If your going to spend the coin to get Dura Ace shifters then you might as well get a Front Der designed for a double as it will shift better...Ultegra or 105 would be fine.

    Thanks for the tip.

I looked at shimano website and ultegra 6500 fr der. is a double. Question is will it work with dura ace ST-7700 double left shifter?

105/Ultegra/DA 9 speed is all compatible. FD-6503 is for a triple FD-6500 is for double
