    Wow. Double wow.

I was going to ditch town during the Games because we couldn't get any tickets anyhow in the ticket lottery, and it's just going to be a PITA for managing daily life, but if this pans out I may just stick around after all.

It would be great if it happened...but we've heard this before.
Add in that it would be an exhibition...so what Pro's would show up?
And when/where would they have it....sometimes those obscure events get lost in all the hoopla.
Still...it would be great if it happened.

Last year BMX was put in the Olympics. It got enough viewing that NBC bought rights to US UCI events for 4 years with 20 program hours per year. that is a nice package for a niche sport.

I don't think I've ever been on record as wanting cross as an Olympic sport. But maybe I'm just being dense and missing the point.

Harri you been doing any racing this month? I have hung up the cross bike until next season.

Every olympics a few sports come and go. I remember when it was an exibition sport and failed. Now I thought it had to be accepted first, then it goes. So in 4 years it would be trial, and then a real event. That's how it used to work anyway.

I'd be supprised if this ship sailed.

    -lots of cycling events already
-CX has it's hotspots but is still quite a niche event

it would be a great spectator sport for cycling but the UCI would have to press the issue
and it's not like they have other winter represetation to trade it with.

That's a good stretch of memory, but it had to be the mid 80's. I was crushed to read it wasn't accepted. Chicks want skating and emotional personal pieces, they could care less about muddy boys.

Snowboard Cross is a medal spot. Skicross isn't. Personally, I lookforward to Ski halfpipe replacing moguls or aerials. It's not my kind of skiing, buts it's great to watch! Much more variety and personal style than moguls.

I agree that if a sport like curling has to get dropped entirely for cycling to get yet another medal sport, it probably won't happen. I understand it isn't exactly a zero sum game, but for practical purposes, I think it is.

I am all for cyclocross being an Olympic sport. Road and mountain is already there, seems like the logical step. Cyclocross of the three mentioned, is probably the most exciting to watch as a spectator.

If Biatholon is a sport, CX can be on too!

Sorry. Don't know why I called you out. Total random brain fart. Though you do deserve to be called out some.

No racing anymore. After the last local race, I was cooked and didn't ride the rest of the year. Loved my ride today. 70 degrees. Rediculous, especially after 38 degree, cloudy numb toe ride Sunday morning. Hope you were able to ride today, cause it's getting cold again tomorrow.

Back in the 80's what you read was the only news you got. So I'm wrong, as I'm sure many have tried to get cyclocross as an olympic sport and even failed to get it as a demonstration event.

I thought that the big problem is that CX is not usually on snow or ice...

    when I went to

the SLC games, there was plenty of locales that would have been perfect for a cx Olympics. One section we passed by was a perfect combo of snow, dirt, grass and mud with some asphalt sections. Would have been like Poprad.

there are plenty of niche sports in the Olympics

    WE WANT CROSS!!!!
one nation, under surveillance with liberty and justice for few

    still not figgering on biggering
