Kenda Kross Plus - OK to race with?

I have 42c Kenda Kross Plus tire on my Surly Cross Check. I am planning to do my 1st cross race soon and was wondering if they would work or if I would need something with a more traditional grip tread in the center. The course is pavement, grass and sand.

They will be good enough for your first race.

depends on conditions. if it's dry, that's good. if it's slippery, you will probably be wishing for a little more knob.

Yes- I agree with the knob comment. If you normally ride on the street, you'll want to let some air out, too.

    I dunno,

I think if you are going to ride on the road you want to pump the rubber up a bit.

read it again, she means that if it's normally on the road, let some air out.
