    Minoura rim-drive: perfect cross trainer?

I'm getting sick of switching off my knobbies to use my stationary trainer (long story, but I don't have an extra rear wheel for my cx bike right now. longer story: I need to do some training indoors right now ...).

Seems like the rim-drive would be just the ticket - also especially for pre-race warm up.

Anybody have any experience with one?

    Better options?

When I worked at a shop we used one of these for indoor bike fitting when the weather was nasty. Very useful for knobby tires, especially MTB.
    Positive factors:
    Less noise, but not significantly
Simple to set-up to different sized tires and wheels
Ride is smooth during constant efforts
    Negative factors:
They do noticeably wear out your rim
Slippage under high torque, so it is harder to do anaerobic intervals
Uneven pedal forces if you have a warped wheel
