Jonathan Page with Chad and I after the Pro warmup

Snow, Beer, and Cross. Only one thing could make this scream Belgium more...

    Frites!

Kaitlin Antoneau the US U23 national champion on her way to 10th

Katie Compton on her way to a 3rd place fighting back from last place. This downhill was wicked and caused lots of crashes into the tree I was standing next to.

    Womens podium

Me almost getting my ass run over by the World Champion. I guess he had the right of way.

Crowd got thicker for the mens race

Sven Niis powering up a muddy climb

Hard 90 after a big muddy drop. A couple hute OTB crashes here.

Lars Boom had a long day

The start was a half mile of pacement straight on to a steep climb that was muddy. She dropped her chain shifting down and it wedged into the frame. She went from first to last in seconds. She lost a minute getting it out. Was fun watching her pick the field off to work up to third. The girl who got second just sat on Vos the whole race. Very smart.

Well.. not quite. If you look at the footage, you can see Vos creating a gap within the first lap. She had a lead of more than a minute at the finish. If there was a course where just sitting on is impossible, it is this one. I would call her riding very goog damage control to Vos' very solid ride.

great shots, great video. got any more?

I wish I could have seen the womens race online. I bet it was a pretty epic watching Compton claw back from last place, esp when she was endo-ing, taking all kinds of risks on that off camber section.

    your description explains it better
she loses a minute and then crushes all but 1 and 2. Too bad a Vos / Compton showdown would have been sweet
2nd place rider said she knew she couldn't beat Vos so she rode a smart, safe race to second

I'm guessing because it'd be far worse to get your chain stuck under the chain catcher.

Thanks for the pics and it looks like it was a blast. However, when I see that much mud, I can't help but think there should be some hot women in bikinis wrestling each other.

I'm no pro but speaking from my experience this is correct

Setup _is_ key but if you crash that chain can and sometimes will end up below the catcher.

If you never go down maybe a catcher is worthwhile but I've yet to have a crashless season
