I love Marco Fontana. One of my favorite mountain bikers. "I think I'll bridge up to the lead group of the World Cup." What a bad ass! Nice brakes, too.

Its more like a Crit on grass. Camera angles suck....course looks like your standard American twist-a-thon. JPOW would have done well at this one. Same with VanDerHaar had he not bailed on the 2nd lap.

    Fontana currently in 5th!!

What's up with Nys way back? Didn't catch it....still getting over bronchitis?

That was a gift for Albert. 1 World Cup to go in the Netherlands, where he's had some really good days.

Van de Haar looked really good early on (until he bit the dust in a corner), but 6th is nothing to sniff at in that field. That mechanical (Klaas) on the last lap was just cruel....

bad timing for a mechanical, but im glad fontana got a podium. he really animated the race and looked like he was proud to have his jersey on and be racing in rome. if jpage/jpow go that hard in louisville ill be happy.

On some courses. Sounds like there was ample passing room on this circuit.

Agreed. Seemed like it was well-suited to leapfrogging through the field with no real bottlenecks. Very impressive performance nonetheless.

course was pretty wide open. plenty of room to pass. some Belgian courses, even where they are wide have 1 ridable line
