Standard 20/24 Reynolds Stratus DV 46 for 'cross

anyone using the standard 16/20 version for cross? I have "heard" of people using them before but just wanting to hear from someone who has first hand knowledge.

I used the 16/20 for cross last year for one race. Now I have some really expensive useless carbon in my garage.

I use the 20/24 for CX with no problems. The "cross" specific ones only differ in the spokes used, not the rims. Funny thing is that the CX-ray spokes used in the standard ones are actually a bit stronger than the DT Revs used in the CX ones.

I wouldn't feel comfortable running the lower spoke count ones though, unless you don't weigh much.

I've also used some regular Zip 404 wheels with no problems though.

I've used the 16/20 version for the last 3 seasons. Race 'em on the road from April to Sept, then put the knobbies on and go from Sept to Dec. I'm 150 lbs, and don't go out of my way to be nice to the wheels. Last season I hit a rock hard enough to knock the front out of true -- pulled off the tire when I got home and used the funky wrench to true them back up. Love 'em.
