    Rear skewers with adjustable tension

Does anyone know what the rear skewers that have adjustable tension are called? The ones that sit on the end of the horizontal dropouts so you can make small adjustments to the chain tension. I'm also wondering if anyone knows where to buy them, preferably not QR ones.

Hmm I looked those up and that's not what I'm thinking. These are attached to the rear skewers. They have a threaded part that comes out with in the horizontal dropout with nuts on the end that you can adjust to change the tension.

surly sells tuggnut chain tensioners that work well with solid nutted axles and it also comes with an adaptor for QR axles

For the win. Enjoy if you want 'em. Personally I've never bothered with them. Then again I'm not racing either, so a grain of salt may be necessary here.

Yeah, I think you're talking about tensioners like the surly Tuggnut. Your terminology is slightly confused, which is what threw prople off. These devices don't attach to the "skewers." They slip over the axle end, and pull the axle into the position you want before you tighten the axle nut. They are most often used with solid axles, which use nuts instead of a quick-release, and so have no skewer at all.

The surly one is quite expensive, like $30 on amazon when you can get no-name ones for $3.

$27 dollars for a bottle cap opener is definitely worth it in certain situations.
