If you had a smart fan some of those zwift headwinds could be cross or tailwinds.

I stole your idea. I plan to patent the first Smart Fan. Full ANT and FE-C controls. $1199; a small price to pay for that kind of realism. For an extra $399 you get a feature that simulates drivers throwing stuff at you

If you throw a small stipend my way you won't have to feel guilty about stealing the idea. And seeing as you can probably be trusted, we won't even need a lawyer to draw up any papers.

Nice! You're one of the few who posted almost as many different metrics as I did. We were so close on average speed and max speed. How does your Zwift average speed compare to real average speed?

I won't pretend to know what zwift does for wind resistance simulation if any at all. Some people don't consider zwift miles as real, which is why I made the distinction. To me the watts are real enough and there aren't that many really windy days around here where it would make a huge variance in speed/mileage vs numbers I see on zwift anyways. That and once the snow starts I'm usually done outside until spring so it lets me ride when I would otherwise not be able to.

I tried to follow your example.

Zwift speed seems pretty comparable as long as power is recording accurately and not giving you extra watts like my kickr was initially. On flat terrain you might be able to average a little faster on zwift but climbing it seems pretty close.

Tried to post my year end Strava video, failed miserably. Basically 2400 miles riding with 70k feet of climbing and another 300 miles of running.

I didn't have as good of a year as I hoped. Lost my riding buddies so the encouragement to go out on the weekend or participate in centuries got de-prioritized in favor of getting laundry, etc. done.

    2161.97 miles
    126:26:36 h:m:s
    74143 ft

I did complete a bucket list item: Geiger Grade Road up to Virginia City. The interesting part is 8 miles and 2200 feet. It's a very constant and consistent 5% so it doesn't hurt but it also feels like it doesn't stop. And it has gorgeous views on the way up, overlooking Reno in the valley and the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I've got some new riding buddies for the year and I think we'll be able to push each other a little harder than my last group (that got me over 3k in 2016). I have higher hopes for a more fun year in 2018 than simply tallying commuting miles.
