Unhappy Blaze 1/2 watt light interferes with HRM

Kinda of bizarre, I have my Sigma PC-9 HRM on my handlebar which is also where I attached my new Planet Bike Blaze headlight. When the headlight is in flashing mode it it causes a signal interference with my HRM and triples the heartrate reading. Since I have crossbrake levers on my handlebar, I don't really have much real estate left and don't want to wear my HRM as a wristwatch. Anyone have this issue?

It's not uncommon for the electronics in a light to interfere with a HRM. Cheap circuit boards make noise and in blink mode the board is pulsing the voltage to the light. Try a different light or skip the blinking mode. Some of the cheap lights interfere with HRMs all of the time.

    Good luck

PS. I read your post and realized the light is new. A new one is not a good option. You could put a small blinky on the back. Just take the HRM with you and test.

Hi, thanks for your response. I do have a "super flash" in back already and thats never been a problem. I guess I'll need to figure out what distance to separate the HRM and the light and see if I can come up with an alternative mounting solution for either the HRM or the light.

Yes, that's perfectly normal. You can either simply not use flash mode, get a different light, or get a different computer. It's going to be pretty hard to separate them enough to prevent the harmonic interference.
