    Cycling around Boone, NC

I'll be in Charlotte, NC at the end of July and would like to spend a few days near Boone on the bike. I'm thinking of staying in Banner Elk. I'll have two days and would like to get as much climbing in as possible. Probably do around 75-100 miles per day. Any suggestions as to what climbs I should hit. I know Beech Mt for sure. Is it worth it to try and hit Mt Mitchell? Any other town you'd recommend I stay in?

also, ask at the local bike shops, they're always a good source for good local ride info.

My dad is from Boone, used to go down there a lot when I was younger. I remember he lived pretty high up on a mountain between Boone and Mountain City, TN. The roads to his house were insanely steep, so I'd say it's probably Snake Mountain or Elk Knob. Good luck!
