Cylcle ops and new bike with true axle won't fit

Got a new bike this year and it has 9 mm thru axle QR.

I have a Cycle ops fluid trainer. https://www.rei.com/media/product/667910 the QC lever is too big for the receiver on the cycle ops.

Grind it and get a new one for next year ? any other options?

    thanks
