Do you drift off other riders?

Usually I ride alone, but when I ride in a group I don't drift off other riders, I prefer to ride my own pace. I might be tempted to drift if I was following a hot chick, but other than that, I never do it. How bout you guys?

    Draft

Not "drift." And "steal" instead of steel in your other thread. Might want to check your keyboard for a vowel malfunction.

Yes, I do draft, sometimes. It all depends on how fast the other riders are going vs. how fast I want to go, whether I know them, and various other factors. I have no firm policy either way.

If I was following a hot chick I would not drift. I would stay right on her wheel in the draft.

So if you are riding in a group, you spend all of your time at the front?

OP - how can you ride in a group AND ride at your own pace? Sounds like a contradiction unless you are always at the front setting the pace, in which case you can't draft.

Your a idiot if you draft a hot chick.

Ride up next to her and offer to trade pulls. Don't make any hand motions when you say "trade pulls."

The only time I drift off of other riders is if they're going too fast for me to hold their wheel. Then I drift off as they ride away.

I find I drift off a lot when I'm riding in the afternoon without a nap. Wasn't a problem until I got past 40.
You'd be better off with a netbook, they do everything better.

Only on group rides, I drift off other riders and other riders drift off of me. It's a group drifting thing.

Actually, the neg aspect of "drift" reminds of yet another incident of an auto coming into our bike lane while he was txt'ng today (2 lane open roadway, posted 35 mph limit). Two days ago a woman did the same thing on a climbing portion of our ride. We could see it happen to a riding partner of ours only 50 feet ahead. A popular cyclist was killed on a route we take by a drifting txt'r only 3 years ago. We see too much of this behavior as of recent. Drift bad...draft good.

I try not to drift when I draft. Especially if I'm in a group riding in a double paceline.
